Numbers 33:54—How was land distributed to the tribes of Israel? (it-1 359 ¶2)

After the casting of the lot had determined the geographic location of a tribe, it would then be necessary to determine the extent of its territory on the basis of the second factor: its proportionate size. “You must apportion the land to yourselves as a possession by lot according to your families. To the populous one you should increase his inheritance, and to the sparse one you should reduce his inheritance. To where the lot will come out for him, there it will become his.” (Nu 33:54) The decision of the lot as to the basic geographic location would stand, but adjustment could be made as to the size of the inheritance. Thus, when Judah’s territory was found to be too large, its land area was reduced by assigning portions of it to the tribe of Simeon.—Jos 19:9.

What spiritual gems from this week’s Bible reading would you like to share regarding Jehovah, the field ministry, or something else?

If in chapter 32 verse 16 we see how the tribe of Gad was willing to cooperate in order to support their brothers and Jehovah bless them, right now Jehovah gives us suggestions and tells us how we can support and cooperate with his organization, if I do this It will allow the congregation to stay together in good spirits even in difficult times like the ones we are going through right now with the pandemic and if I do this I will receive the peace and blessing that Jehovah gives us.

In chapter 32 verse 6 when the sons of Reuben and Gad wanted to stay in the land of Jazed and Gilead among the things that Moses used to make them reason was to ask questions and so they could reach a conclusion after these questions they decided to go but that their families will stay, we too can imitate Moses helping our students to reason through questions so they can make good decisions.

In chapter 32 verse 12 Joshua and Caleb are mentioned as two men who followed Jehovah with all their hearts as that generation of Israelites did not have the courage or the faith so they never entered the land of promise Joshua and Caleb instead if They entered together with a new generation and we, although we are imperfect like Joshua and Caleb, can serve Jehovah with all our hearts and he can strengthen us to encourage us in his ways and enter the new world.

In the chapter of numbers 33, when reading all the stages of the journey that the people of Israel made through the desert, I learn that despite the occasions when they complained about what seemed to be an irremediable lack, Jehovah always provided them with food and water. And at times He did it miraculously all the time. Jehovah helped them keep in mind the abundance they would enjoy in the promised land.

There in numbers 33: 9 Moses recalled the occasion when two spies gave a bad report after having studied the promised land and that causes discouragement among others, well that reminds us how beautiful it is to exert a positive influence through our speech and avoid discouraging others by striving in a way that edifies others.

Numbers chapter 33 verse 3 and verse 4 tells us about when the Israelites left Egypt it is said that they left with confidence in Jehovah and that the Egyptians could see the difference between the true God and the false gods of Egypt, a We teach us that Jehovah is a protective God and that he is a powerful God who can help us today in our problems and as well as what it means to have confidence to come out with raised hands or to be victorious today we can be victorious because we have the help of Jehovah.

Also there in numbers 32:16 after the tribe receives Moses ‘advice it mentions there the principle that they later came back with a decision, which indicates that they took the time to meditate on Moses’ advice and recommendation, then I It shows that it is very important that also when I receive advice I do not deny it the first time or reject it but rather take the time to meditate on the advice I receive from the Bible from an elder in my family to be successful.

In numbers 32:25 it mentions that the sons of Gad and Reuben made a promise and we can say that they were faithful to it because Joshua 4:12 confirms that they kept it, we have also made some promises such as when we got married or in our dedication Like them, if we are faithful to our promises, we will receive Jehovah’s approval.

Numbers 33:55 Jehovah is very clear in the instructions he gave the nation when telling them the consequences they will receive if they do not drive out your enemies, in the same way Jehovah clearly warns us of the results if we do not obey the laws and principles regarding to the people with whom we interact.

The 33rd chapter of numbers mentions about 40 places where the Israelites camped maybe sometimes they were somewhere comfortable AND they were tempted to think that leaving there would be a change that would only harm them in our case maybe we have made it difficult to accept some change within the organization but the example of the Israelites teaches us that if we are patient and make an effort to adapt we will surely see the blessings of Jehovah.

In chapter 32 verse 2 thanks to the fact that Moses obeyed to keep a record of the stages of the trip in order, now we can understand what that journey was, even confirm that the word of God is faithful when giving these details, now we also have to make records as of our preaching activity and if we make them accurate these will allow the organization to see the increase in the world work.

Like in chapter 32 we see how Moses reminded the tribe of Gad that their ancestors fell victim to Satan and made bad decisions, they paid attention to this with a good attitude and were able to correct their way of thinking, today we find examples in the Bible admonitions that help us to prove what we ourselves are and not make the same mistakes as them, that is why it is very important to always pay attention.

And throughout the 33rd chapter of numbers at least 40 places are mentioned where the Israelites had to camp on their way to the promised land but Jehovah was always with them, directing them by means of a cloud during the day and a pillar of fire during the night, well we are taught that we can be sure that Jehovah will always be with us if we allow ourselves to be guided by him.

Numbers 30:10-12—How do we know that Elkanah approved of Hannah’s vow to offer Samuel to Jehovah’s service? (1Sa 1:11it-2 28 ¶1)

Persons could be devoted to Jehovah’s exclusive service in connection with the sanctuary. It was a right that parents could exercise. Samuel was one such person, promised to tabernacle service by a vow of his mother Hannah before his birth. This vow was approved by her husband Elkanah. As soon as Samuel was weaned, Hannah offered him at the sanctuary. Along with him, Hannah brought an animal sacrifice. (1Sa 1:11, 22-28; 2:11) Samson was another child specially devoted to God’s service as a Nazirite.—Jg 13:2-5, 11-14; compare the father’s authority over a daughter as outlined in Nu 30:3-5, 16.

*** it-2 p. 1162 Vow ***

Voluntary, but Binding When Once Made. Vows were wholly voluntary. However, once a man made a vow, fulfillment was compulsory by divine law. Thus a vow was spoken of as being ‘bound upon his soul,’ implying that his very life became surety for the performance of his word. (Nu 30:2; see also Ro 1:31, 32.) Since life is at stake, it is understandable why the Scriptures urge one to use extreme caution before making a vow, carefully considering the obligations to be assumed. The Law stated: “In case you vow a vow to Jehovah . . . God will without fail require it of you, and it would indeed become a sin on your part. But in case you omit making a vow, it will not become a sin on your part.”—De 23:21, 22.

(Numbers 30:14, 15) 14 But if her husband offers no objection at all from day to day, he also establishes all her vows or all her abstinence vows that are upon her. He establishes them because he did not object on the day he heard her make them. 15 But if he annuls them later, sometime after the day he heard them, he will bear the consequences of her guilt.

*** it-2 p. 1162 Vow ***

Vows of women, under the Law. The laws regulating vows made by women are outlined at Numbers 30:3-15: The vow of a daughter was binding once her father heard it and raised no objection; or, instead, he could annul it. The vow of a wife (or an engaged girl) likewise depended on her husband (or fiancé) for validation. If the man annulled the vow after first letting it stand, he bore her error. (Nu 30:14, 15)

*** it-2 p. 1163 Vow ***

After Jerusalem’s destruction, Jeremiah reminded the Jews in Egypt that one reason for the calamity that befell them was their making vows to the “queen of the heavens” and offering sacrifices to her. The women who were taking a prominent part in this idol worship were quick to point out that their vows and worship to the “queen of the heavens” had been approved by their husbands and that they were determined to carry out their vows to this goddess. They thus made the excuse that they were acting in harmony with the Law regarding vows for women (Nu 30:10-15), but Jeremiah denounced their actions as being really law defying, since they were idolatrous.—Jer 44:19, 23-25; 2Co 6:16-18.

(Numbers 31:29) 29 You should take it from their half and give it to El·e·aʹzar the priest as Jehovah’s contribution.

Sacred portions (heave offerings). The Hebrew word teru·mahʹ is sometimes translated “sacred portion” when referring to the part of the sacrifice that was lifted up, or heaved, off the sacrifice as the portion belonging to the priests. (Ex 29:27, 28; Le 7:14, 32; 10:14, 15) The word is also frequently rendered “contribution,” when referring to the things given to the sanctuary, which, with the exception of that which was sacrificed on the altar, also went to the priests for their sustenance.—Nu 18:8-13, 19, 24, 26-29; 31:29; De 12:6, 11.

(Numbers 31:17, 18) 17 Now you should kill every male among the children and kill every woman who has had sexual relations with a man. 18 But you may keep alive all the young girls who have not had sexual relations with a man.

*** it-1 p. 850 Foreigner ***

Marriage alliances with foreigners were prohibited, primarily because of the danger of corruption of pure worship. (Ex 34:16; De 7:3, 24; Jos 23:12, 13) All inhabitants of cities of the seven Canaanite nations were to be destroyed. (De 7:1; 20:15-18) But in the capture of a city not of the seven proscribed Canaanite nations, an Israelite soldier could take a virgin from the city as a wife after she had undergone a period of purification. In such cases no actual alliance would be formed with a foreign tribe or family, her parents having been slain when her city was taken.—De 21:10-14; Nu 31:17, 18; De 20:14.

(Numbers 31:21-24) 21 El·e·aʹzar the priest then said to the men of the army who had gone into the battle: “This is the statute of the law that Jehovah commanded Moses, 22 ‘Only the gold, the silver, the copper, the iron, the tin, and the lead, 23 everything that can be processed with fire, you should pass through the fire, and it will be clean. However, it should also be purified by the water for cleansing. Everything that cannot be processed with fire, you should pass through the water. 24 And you should wash your garments on the seventh day and be clean, and then you may come into the camp.’”

*** it-1 p. 480 Clean, Cleanness ***

Spoils of war had to be cleansed before they could be brought in. Combustible articles were washed with water, but metal objects had to pass through the fire.—Nu 31:21-24.

What spiritual gems from this week’s Bible reading would you like to share regarding Jehovah, the field ministry, or something else?

Numbers 30:2-9, 31: This shows the authority that Jehovah granted to the head of household the husband. We see hear that Jehovah granted the husband the authority to nullified a vow made by his wife or daughter made without his permission and it becomes known to him and for whatever reason he feel it was not a wise vow.  We should appreciate the headship arrangement since Jehovah is ultimate head and we need to listen to him because it does affect our future life.  (1Co 11:3; 15:27-28; Eph 5:24-25; 1Pe 3:12)

Numbers 30:  We may wonder are Christian obligated to keep their vow to Jehovah since they are not under the Law? Yes Christian must keep their vow to Jehovah for we are told by his Jesus at Mt 5:33 ”you must pay your vows to Jehovah.”  Yes, even if the vow we make to Jehovah is going to be painful, we still must honor our word to Jehovah, like Jephʹthah who beloved daughter who came out to meet him upon his victorious return. The vow we make today is our dedicating our life to Jehovah and to do his will. (Ps 50:14, 17; Ec 5:4; Jg 11:30-34; Mt 16:24; Col 3:20)

Numbers 30: One of the main reasons we must keep our vow to Jehovah is because if we do not keep a vow we are sinning against Jehovah. Yes, we are told at De 23:21 ‘If you make a vow to Jehovah your God, do not be slow about paying it. For Jehovah your God will surely require it of you; otherwise, it will be a sin on your part. We can be sure that no sinner will enter Jehovah’s Kingdom. (Ec 5:4, 6; Jg 11:35; 1Co 6:9-10)

Numbers 31:8, 16-17 We see Jehovah execution of Divine Judgment upon the ungodly. Like the Israelites loose conduct cause 24,000 to die because of Balaam counsel. Also Jehovah’s judgement day came for Balaam who met a violent death by the hands of the ones he supposed to curse. Also we see in verse 16 &17 Mid-i-an-ites woman was kill because they had relations with the Israelites.  Yet there is a larger Judgment Day of Jehovah coming for all those who are not on his side and who did not listen to the god news. (2Th 1:6-9;; Ro 2:8; Re 19:11-18; 16:16; 2Pe 3:5-7; Mt 24:36-39)

In chapter 30 I am very grateful to Jehovah that he greatly values the service I give him and the vows I make to him, he does not see me as part of a group but individually as a woman as a wife and not only that it also helps me fulfill them.

In number 31: 2 Jehovah orders to exact revenge on the Midianites they were not among the nations that Jehovah was going to remove from Israel, however due to their reckless behavior Jehovah ordered to annihilate them, this story helps me to see that Jehovah He will not leave unpunished those nations that treat our brothers unjustly at present and prevent them from serving him freely. It also makes me trust that in the future when Gob de Magob rises up against his people, Jehovah will also act as the great deliverer.

In chapter 30 verse 1 uses the expression Jehovah has ordered here I see that it is Jehovah’s love behind those clear orders for his nation, today Jehovah also guides us by his love and he does it through an organization world.

And now it is like there are many people who do not believe in religion because religious leaders seek only to earn money for their own interest but in numbers 31 verses 28 to 30 it is shown that Jehovah is different because by dividing the spoils he demonstrated his generosity in keeping the least of it allowing his people to enjoy the best.

Verses 49 and 50 of chapter 31 mention that the men in charge of the army wanted to make a thank offering, the interesting thing is that they had already given part of the spoil to Jehovah as an obligatory tax but their gratitude prompted them to give more, In my case, reading the Bible daily, attending meetings and preaching is part of my mandatory service, but true gratitude should motivate us to seek new ways to expand our services.

In numbers 30:16 we see Phineas in action again, what he teaches me about this man is that it is not only a single act that will determine that he has the approval of Jehovah but, like this faithful servant, be willing to worship Jehovah with all my heart every day and let him know that so to speak he is counting on me to take care of any assignment.

In numbers chapter 31 verse 18 we see how Jehovah forgave some 32 Midianite women because they were not contaminated with men, so this can also teach us how it is that Jehovah was not seeing crowds only Midianites he saw people he paid attention to loyalty that these women demonstrated even when they were surrounded by people or Israelites who invited them to sin, how reassuring it is to see that in our case Jehovah also does not forget us, he also looks at the loyalty that each of us personally demonstrate while we are living in this dominated world by Satan.

In numbers 30:18 it speaks of Balaam’s death finally and we can see that although he was able to see Jehovah’s power in action this did not make him a worshiper of his, he stubbornly continued after the greed after the wealth that he was promised to oppose Jehovah, so ultimately Jehovah had to execute judgment against him by destroying him.

Chapter 31 verse 2 Jehovah uses such simple words to refer to death when he says Moses will be reunited with your people when Jesus was on earth, he used simple words when he said that Lazarus was sleeping or was resting for Jehovah, it is not difficult to give life again to people who have died this verse helps me to be able to teach people so that they too see that Jehovah has all the power to be able to give life again to his loved ones who have died.

In numbers 31: 9 it is related how the Israelites took prisoner children and women from Midian, a situation for which Moses was upset and corrected them, the Israelites had not understood the seriousness of the situation even because they had died a short time ago Perhaps 24,000 of them were carried away by emotions and believed that what they were doing was not so bad, but their bad example helps me to see how important it is not to get carried away by my emotions but that to make wise decisions it is necessary to train my ability of discernment to distinguish right from wrong.

Numbers chapter 30 verse 31 to 40 we also see how it is that Jehovah’s vengeance is controlled since he did not kill everyone equally speaking of the Midianites and we can also see it just that this revenge is since the distribution of the spoil brought benefit but only to those who demonstrated trust in him.

Return Visit Video: (5 min.) Discussion. Play the video Return Visit: God’s Purpose—Isa 55:11Stop the video at each pause, and ask the audience the questions that appear in the video.

How would you use verse 10 to show that we can trust Jehovah’s promises?

We could ask him, have we ever doubted that the sun rises or sets so that there is no day and night, if we do not question the physical laws, we must doubt that the creator of such laws can fulfill what he promises, let the person meditate on those questions.

In verse 10 a detailed description of the water cycle is made and it is highlighted that the water that falls from the rain does not return to the sky, it does not evaporate until it has nourished the earth and already gave a fruit, we can emphasize to the person after read these texts to him that in the same way any promise or word that Jehovah has made will not come back to him without giving an obvious result.

If the person has a few more minutes, what publication in the Teaching Box could they use to start a Bible course?

Perhaps we could use the Enjoy Life Forever booklet and use section 2 in part 4 and discuss some of the promises that Jehovah has for us using the images as well.

Also chapter 3 of the book teaches the purpose of God for humanity in paragraph 2 quotes from Isaiah 55:11 also from paragraph 15 onwards it talks about Jehovah’s promises for the future so we could analyze any of them.

We can also use the Listen to God and Live Forever booklet in part 10 where the question is asked how God will bless those who hear him.

Yes also the brochure Good News from God in question 4 we find some of the things that Jehovah will do to end suffering.

Numbers 28:7, 14—What were drink offerings? (it-2 528 ¶5)

Drink offerings. Drink offerings were presented along with most of the other offerings, especially after the Israelites had settled in the Promised Land. (Nu 15:2, 5, 8-10) This consisted of wine (“intoxicating liquor”) and was poured out on the altar. (Nu 28:7, 14; compare Ex 30:9; Nu 15:10.) The apostle Paul wrote to the Christians at Philippi: “If I am being poured out like a drink offering upon the sacrifice and public service to which faith has led you, I am glad.” Here he used the figure of a drink offering, expressing his willingness to expend himself in behalf of fellow Christians. (Php 2:17) Shortly before his death, he wrote to Timothy: “I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the due time for my releasing is imminent.”—2Ti 4:6.

Numbers 26:55, 56—How did Jehovah demonstrate wisdom when distributing the land inheritance among the tribes? (it-1 359 ¶1-2)

It thus appears that the distribution of the land among the tribes was governed by two factors: the result of the casting of the lot, and the size of the tribe. The lot may have established only the approximate location of the land inheritance each tribe would have, thus designating an inheritance in one section or another of the land, such as to the N or S, E or W, along the coastal plain, or in the mountainous region. The decision of the lot proceeded from Jehovah and hence would serve to prevent jealousy or quarreling among the tribes. (Pr 16:33) By this means God would also guide matters so that the situation of each tribe would fall in accordance with the inspired deathbed prophecy of the patriarch Jacob recorded at Genesis 49:1-33.

The Numbers 25:13 Jehovah recognizes the loyalty and courage of Finehas because I do not tolerate rivalry in pure worship, it is a good example of not allowing anything in our hearts to occupy the place that corresponds to Jehovah.

We read in verse 3 of chapter 25 of numbers it mentions that Jehovah was very angry and we could wonder if the anger of Jehovah that he was showing at that time was incorrect, well we know that Jehovah can really get angry when perhaps one of his enemies or his own servants have declared so frequently or may be against him, that is why Jehovah is not slow when he gets angry, on the contrary, he takes action on the matter and does the correct justice that is to say that instead of getting very angry or simply unfairly Jehovah done with a righteous indignation means that Jehovah does protect his servants but he is also aware that anyone who goes against him can use his destructive forces so that he can destroy them and justice reigns instead of injustice.

From the situation that the Israelites lived, very regrettable when they had immoral relationships, I can learn then, also something that I wonder is that I prefer to enjoy a selfish pleasure that lasts a short time or live happily ever after in the new world, it is true that it is worth the It is a shame to make an effort to obey the command of Jehovah flee from sexual immorality to that I am resolved.

Chapter 26 verse 10 once again we reread what happened to Core even though many years of this had already passed, we might think that Jehovah does not forget mistakes but it is not like that, behind this I see that Jehovah is a God of warning but above all a God of love, for that reason the purpose of leaving examples as the verse says that serve as a warning that help us to know how Jehovah feels and how Jehovah acts when we ignore his principles, today we have that great advantage We have them, we can meditate on them and use our imagination or, so to speak, ahead of the movie to see the results of our decisions and learn from the mistakes of others and not our own.

Numbers 25: 1 and 2 we can see that the Israelites allowed their reasoning to deceive them, perhaps they thought that accepting that invitation would help them reduce their tension or that it was their right to have fun, but their bad reasoning only separated them from Jehovah, so I must to take care that my reasoning never justifies my bad decisions.

How good it is to know that we can trust in Jehovah’s organization, verse 4 of chapter 25 lets us see that Jehovah is aware of what is happening in his people because it says there Jehovah told Moses, so Jehovah is aware of it He is currently giving instructions and guidance as we approach the end of this system.

I really like numbers 26:65 that I learned that Jehovah never forgets the things we do for him because it had already been several decades since Caleb and Joshua had gone to spy on the land of Canaan but Jehovah still remembered their beautiful example decades later, then I learn that no matter what Jehovah God does small or great, he will always remember the things he does for his name.

In number 26:11 it is mentioned that the sons of Korah did not join their father’s rebellion, their loyalty to Jehovah saved his life, in the same way our main loyalty is to Jehovah and to the earthly part of his organization so We hold the correct viewpoint in dealing with those who have decided to turn away from Jehovah completely.

Chapter 25 verse 1 and 2 also teaches me that giving yourself the freedom to ignore a simple principle can lead us to commit a serious sin, the Israelites allowed themselves to accept an invitation that seemed harmless to just eat and have fun but they were overlooking the warning not to mix with those who did not worship Jehovah and that in turn led them to commit a serious sin of immorality and later another serious sin of idolatry, that is why I must be alert and not fall into the trap of giving me freedoms that seem harmless maybe out of simple curiosity but that can lead me to commit serious sins.

Yes, from numbers 25, verses 7 and 8, the example that Finehas set an excellent example of zeal for the worship of Jehovah is outstanding, from this there are also many lessons, for example if we learn that someone has committed a sin after giving Necessary steps it is necessary to announce to the elders this and in case of the elders also take immediate action to protect the congregation from impurity.

In chapter 25 of verse 6 it says that the entire assembly was present when Phineas pierced Zimri with the spear, most likely his family was there, we can imagine what his parents or those close to him felt when they saw or heard their agony but when it was tried to demonstrate their loyalty they knew what decision to make, today we can face a similar situation when sadly a family member a very dear friend leaves the truth or expels it is painful because we love them we miss them but only a complete heart for Jehovah he will help us to always become loyal to him.
